Should households in the path of new pylons be given cash?

Households could get lump sum payments to avoid protests against vital power lines that keep the lights on.

A Government-commissioned report written by a former National Grid boss said it is "both vital and challenging" to ensure the delivery of new grid connections speeds up.

It takes about 12 to 14 years to get new, big transmission lines up and running, about twice the time it takes to put up a large wind farm, the report says, and this is slowing the transition to clean energy.

The Daily Express is looking for strong views on whether households should be given cash as per the report recommendations. Three to four paragraphs would be great.
