Mortgages - what are you seeing on ground?

Journalist: Jane Matthews, FTAdviser

Hi brokers,

Given all of the volatility seen this week in the mortgage market I'm eager to hear how this is impacting your day-to-day.

What exactly are you experiencing on the ground? And are clients particularly anxious?

Many thanks,
Jane

We have observed minimal client anxiety due to their limited awareness of recent developments in the mortgage market. Consequently, our primary task is to educate them about the situation and emphasise the urgency of providing all necessary documentation promptly. By doing so, we can expedite the submission process and secure favourable rates at the earliest opportunity. Regardless of prevailing circumstances, our firm's foremost objective remains the swift submission of applications to ensure the timely acquisition of mortgage offers. Ideally, lenders should provide a minimum notice period of 48 hours prior to product withdrawals. It is possible to recommend a product in the morning with the intention of submitting it later in the day. However, there exists a slight risk of sudden product withdrawal without adequate notice. As a result, we have heightened our focus on expediting application submissions even further in the current climate.
