Hi

I am looking for comments on the pros and cons of consolidating an ISA for a MoneyWeek story.

Keen for views on the benefits/downside of transferring money to one stocks and shares ISA e.g to save on fees, maximise performance, make it easier to manage

What should people watch out for?

Kind regards

Marc

Consolidating ISAs can be a very sensible move, especially where someone has built up several pots over the years and no longer has a clear view of what they hold, what they are paying, or whether the overall strategy still makes sense. Bringing them together can make the portfolio easier to manage, easier to review and in some cases more cost-effective if there are duplicated platform charges, fund fees or unnecessary overlap. It can also help improve visibility, which matters because clients often make better decisions when they can actually see the full picture in one place. That said, simpler does not always mean better. People need to watch carefully for exit fees, transfer costs, loss of access to certain funds or tax wrappers, and the risk of ending up less diversified than they were before. The key is to consolidate with purpose, not just for convenience, and to make sure the new home is genuinely better, not just tidier.
