Moneyweek - the 55mph storm damage rule
I am writing a piece for MoneyWeek on how insurers assess storm damage, particularly the 55mph rule that insurers follow. Under this industry policy, insurers will only assess claims if winds were above 55mph on average.
I am looking for views on this rule, is it fair on policyholders when there can be other variables? Does it lead to lots of complaints? Should policholders appeal and get a surveyor to investigate? Can insurer decisions be challenged?
Kind regards
Marc
