London property market predictions

ended 10. April 2024

There has been some positive data around the London property market over the past week. The Halifax showed house prices in the capital grew more than the UK average over the past year while research by Hamptons has suggested over a quarter of homes for sale in London sold for more than their asking price in the first three months of 2024, above the England and Wales average. What's driving the surge in prices and demand in the capital and, after a fairly long period of being the laggard, is London set to reclaim its crown as the UK's consistent outperformer during 2024?

The market, in London, is still precarious. With uncertain economic conditions and high interest rates, buyers can still demand a discount and are expecting to get bargains. Although the market has bottomed out, sellers are still asking for too much so significant reductions are being accepted.
