Life expectancy and retirement - ONS

Tomorrow morning at 09:30, the Office for National Statistics is publishing data comparing average life expectancy between 2001/03 and 2018/20. If it shows, which it is likely to, that people are living longer it's likely journalists will want comment about the importance of retirement planning. What do you say to your clients about the fact people are living longer and, generally, healthier lives - and so need to prepare for that financially? Just 2-3 sentences will do!

In general people are living longer and are healthier in the early years of retirement. Without adequate financial planning this can put a strain on a clients financial stability. As a result of this mapping out income and expenditure using cashflow modelling is an essential part of planning ahead for retirement.
