Landlords! Experiences of EPC assessors?

Hello!

Looking to hear from landlords about their experiences with EPC assessments. The Gvt is hoping to reform the way assessors are trained and accredited.

I'm keen to hear from a landlord who has had assessments on their property done recently. Were you downgraded? Did your rating not change despite making improvements to your home's efficiency? How did you find the quality of the assessment itself?

Keen to hear your experiences!

My recent experience with an EPC assessment was, let’s say, enlightening—though not quite in the way I’d hoped. After installing insulation and upgrading my boiler, I was optimistic about a higher rating. Instead, the result barely shifted, leaving me questioning whether the system truly recognises meaningful improvements.

The assessor was courteous, but the process felt inconsistent and unclear. It’s hard to shake the sense that there’s room for better training or more transparent criteria. If the proposed reforms can bring more accuracy and standardisation, I’d welcome them wholeheartedly—landlords deserve clarity, not guesswork.

I’d be happy to share more details if it helps shed light on the current gaps in the system.
