Human impact of rapidly disappearing mortgage deals

ended 13. June 2023

A journalist at The Times is keen to know if any brokers have clients who have lost out on a mortgage deal because of lenders making super-quick withdrawals — or who had say, five minutes to sort everything out and just had to pick a deal they might not have otherwise gone for? Please only respond if you have a case study who will go on the record and ideally be photographed. If you have one, send across some views on the rapid withdrawal periods we've seen over the past fortnight or so and whether they're in the best interest of consumers.

I have a client who is buying his first property at the age of 51, he’s a cautious buyer who wanted a fixed rate (despite my advice), and the original quote has gone up twice before getting his application in. He’s happy to talk and provide photo.
