This looks less like Gatwick literally running dry and more like a tight fuel-supply pinch caused by a technical fault in the airport’s fuel infrastructure. The immediate fix is operational: airlines tanker in fuel from other airports where weight and route length allow, prioritise scarce uplift at Gatwick and, if it drags on, retime or consolidate the most exposed services. Long-haul is where the pressure bites first because those aircraft cannot simply arrive light and hope for the best. Holidaymakers should not panic, but they should be alert- check flight status before leaving, keep airline apps switched on, allow extra time and avoid tight onward connections. If this is fixed quickly, disruption may be limited. If not, delays, aircraft swaps and knock-on cancellations become much more likely.
