Given the well-documented flight chaos today, what rights do people have to claim money back if they are forced to stay abroad for longer and pay for their accommodation, or if they are stuck in the UK and are missing out on part of their holiday? Although not always a fault with Air Traffic Control, there are frequently issues that mean your flight could be delayed or cancelled, that’s why it’s important to take out the best travel insurance you can. A lot of people have this bundled in with a credit card or bank account so you might already have it and not know it. For any delay, the airline has to provide sufficient food and drink and even accommodation if you are delayed overnight. If your flight is cancelled you’ll get a full refund, but as this event wasn’t the airlines fault you won’t get the statutory redress paid out when the airline causes you to be delayed.
