Financial Times - Global perspective on cryptocurrency

ended 18. March 2024

Financial Times journalist is looking for family office (private wealth management) to offer global perspective on cryptocurrency and retail demand

From the journalist: I'm finishing a piece off on cryptocurrency and need a perspective from fund managers - ideally ones who work with wealthy retail investors - I know it's an area where there is reluctance to comment but the amount of money that followed the launch of spot bitcoin ETFs would show how much investor appetite there is.
This is a short deadline - the story is set to appear on FT.com tomorrow morning and in Professional Wealth Management later this week.

With the spot bitcoin ETFs largest players already at around $60 Billion in assets, cummulitive flows of around $141 Billion and Bitcoin itself reaching highs of over $70,000 recently, whether you like it or not it's something that WILL become part of most wealth conversations.
Forunately, the wealthy families in which these conversations happen for us are acutely aware and diligent about that fact that as quickly as it runs to $70,000 they do not know why and understand it just as easily fall to $7,000. Some own it but consider it as a speculative asset, like a bet, and should the money they have in it turn to zero then it has no impact on their welath or financial plan.
I have no doubt that it the ETFs flows we've seen in the US probably form a very small percentage of a wealthy family's overall portfolio but I do believe it is in their and this will be a global trend moving forward.
