EPC C targets scrapped - big sigh of relief for landlords?

Following the news that EPC C targets have been scrapped, The Telegraph is looking to speak to landlords who were considering selling up or reducing their portfolios because of the cost of the targets – but who are now thinking of putting off any drastic decisions. Is this a big sigh of relief for landlords?

Landlords in particular, and the private rented sector in general are gasping for breath as we are desperately seeking certainty and visibility.

The PM’s announcement will come as frustrating news to many. Landlords are not climate change deniers; we recognise that energy efficient homes are better for everyone. But this government’s policy direction announced two years ago, with no confirmation since, went down like a bucket of cold sick and drove many landlords out, removing properties from the PRS and causing tenants to have to needlessly leave their homes.

The million pound question now for most landlords is, given the possibility of a Labour Party government looming, would they continue on the same trajectory or do a complete U-turn on the Conservative’s policies. Sir Starmer and his cronies must get off the fence now.
