ePassport gates - technical issues

Hi, I'm doing a story on with ePassport gates crashing over the weekend.

We understand the problems with ePassport gates crashing could have been caused by technical issues that were flagged to the Home Office by an Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration (ICIBI) report published in January 2022.

It is not clear exactly what caused the problems over the weekend but I'm keen to get insight on technical issues at Border Control and what this means for the peak summer months.

- Do you know if the Home Office would have been aware of potential problems with ePassport gates? 
- What is the impact of technical problems not being addressed? 
- How do you think this will play out over the peak summer months?
