The UK government is expected to publish its new Employment Rights Bill tomorrow. It is expected to impact 7 million workers and some of the potential measures include the ability for workers to demand flexible hours from day one, sick pay entitlement from first day of illness (instead of 4th) and ability to bring unfair dismissal claims after probation periods of 6 months instead of 2 years. There's also expected to be a crackdown on 'exploitative' zero hour contracts.
Experts are saying the new bill could bring issues for new workers as businesses may rely more on temporary workers, overtime for existing staff or even finding other methods such as AI to do tasks instead of hiring new staff that are entitled to these new rights. Some businesses have also said they may need more government financial support to be able to implement the measures.

5 News are looking to speak to a business owner in the London area who may be worried about how this will impact their business, maybe through costs or how it is run. Filming would be in the form of a short interview in-person at any time between 10 am and 2:30 pm tomorrow (10/10/24).
