Divorce policies - the HR/wellbeing considerations

Hello, I am covering news that two major supermarkets  have recently partnered with Positive Parenting Alliance to incorporate more family-friendly HR policies for staff going through divorce or separation.

What policies HR could bring forward to give this type of support, and why it is needed?

If this starts to become more commonplace will HR need to review existing policy – especially to keep up with DEI/wellbeing considerations?

What would these policies mean in practice from a wellbeing point of view?

It’s difficult to write policy for divorce as the emotional effects surrounding it can be so varied. Although, for some, it’s traumatic for others it is a joyous occasion. I think sensible discretion should be used in scenarios that dictate accommodation to circumstances. Making employees aware that management have this discretion is probably a good thing that would be helpful to some.
