Daily Telegraph - Conservatories - Do they devalue your home?

A journalist on the Daily Telegraph urgently needs comment from estate agents about conservatories. 

Do they make houses less valuable due to being naff/energy inefficient? Are they liable to subsidence? Are they less popular?

The sales of conservatories are not where they may have been in the 1980's. however for many buyers these make for an additional and very useful reception space. From buying demand we have noticed their popularity amongst our more senior era of purchasers, demonstrating the generational movement away from conservatories into orangeries, which offer better insulation, style and longevity. ;

As a general overview, bungalows with conservatories offer better value and help increase a home's value, whereas on a family home these are likely to be removed to allow for a modern kitchen-family /extension to rear.
