COST OF LIVING CASE STUDY

Journalist: Jessica Clark, The Sun

ended 21. March 2022

I'm looking to speak to a self-employed person for a story about the rising cost of living for a piece in The Sun.

We are looking at people's bills and how they'll rise in April, and then getting experts to see how they could save money.

You would need to be happy to share details of your finances including how much you spend on each bill.

Looking for someone who is happy to be named and pictured, and is free to chat today or at a push, tomorrow.

Thanks!

Hi Dominic. I’m happy to take part in this. Fuel rises have been massive for us as well as everything else.

I'm open to doing this one

Hey Jessica Absolutely buddy! I'm a pretty good example. Car finance up in June, selling house, getting walloped as a business owner with costs going up etc. Rhys

I've recently become Company Director but I was still self-employed since the pandemic hit up until recently. I've seen first hand how the bills have increased and would be happy to share my thoughts. I'm not self-employed anymore so I understand if that's not what you are looking for but thought it was worth a shot since I'm available.

I'd be open to this. I've gone from a reasonably well paid job to being self-employed during the pandemic (along with my wife) so the drop in income + the rising cost of living has been a huge shock to me and something that has taken a lot of adapting to. I've always been pretty carefree with money but that has had to stop over the past 6 months and I see that going further as we head to April.

I would love someone to have a look at my bills to save me money. From the pandemic I lost money hand over fist. I had to battle my anxiety and stress to go back into IT as I don't know anything else. Lost money and now have 2 jobs. It's killing the small Business man and woman So many people are falling in the low income bracket now. I wake in the morning and turn on my Taxed TV and taxed electricity Have a shower on my Taxed Water and Heating Put on my Taxed clothes Have my Taxed Breakfast Get in my Taxed car, drive along my taxed potted holed road To do my taxed job Fill up the car with over 50% taxed fuel Finish work and go for a Taxed Pint and meal. Get home to my Taxed House What they going to put up tax on Next?
