A successful network?

Journalist: Carmen Reichman, FTAdviser

Dear advisers

I'm keen to find out what makes a successful network.

Are you part of a network? Why/why not?

What would make you join one, both from the perspective of your firm's needs and what a network would have to offer to entice you to join it.

How would you describe what makes a successful network?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you

Carmen

Once upon a time, I was the National Account manager for a lender and one of my key roles was to deal with the various networks. When I took the leap to become a self-employed mortgage adviser that gave me a more complete view of the networks at that time, a view that many advisers wouldn't get to have when picking their network. 14 years later and Barnsdale Financial Management remains part of The Openwork Partnership, who have been excellent. The key to choosing the right network for your business is a multi-faceted one; do you get on with the people and do they get you and your business, what are their fees and charges, what are they delivering to you for your money? For us, the choice to be part of a network is equally complex; it's about having scale in the market, help with advertising, training, business growth and keeping us compliant (which has been essential with the introduction of Consumer Duty and the time and resource that would have taken had I had to do it alone).
