British dog trainer living in Greece is looking to raise awareness of his projects. His aim is to improve the quality of animal shelters worldwide through progressive techniques, social integration and kindness.&nbsp; He has written a book about animal welfare for children and families in Greece, which is being piloted in Greek schools in collaboration with the Greek PFPO animal welfare organization, and has also been asked to advise on the board of the education program of Romania's IAPWA. His ultimate aim is to distribute this book, and provide a template for animal welfare reform using soft skills and progressive techniques, to all schools in developing countries, and link animal shelters with schools, using trained volunteers to teach children the right way to interact with dogs.&nbsp; He is also piloting a scheme where local families on Greece can provide a new "sleep over" for dogs currently residing at the shelter he volunteers at, and hopes this will lead to more and more dogs getting adopted in the shelter.<blockquote>I believe that the only way to change the animal welfare situation worldwide and promote responsible pet ownership is through education, collaboration and empathy - Jon Garstang.</blockquote>
