Tamara is a London-based journalist who has set up the DAFTAS in memory of her late partner celebrity photographer and publisher Joe Alvarez whose unmistakable with and sense of humour used to light up London showbiz scene for over two decades. Having covered the most coveted film awards and festivals - Cannes, Venice, TIFF, BAFTA - Tamara brings her insight into the DAFTAS but also learns about the challenges of filmmaking and events industries as well as about the decline of the mainstream comedy. With her initiative, Tamara aims to encourage creatives to explore comedy as genre, support comedians in finding their voice and style and reward the hard work of filmmakers whose livelihood and circumstances have been negatively impacted by the pandemic lockdowns.
