The covid pandemic has been hard for everyone. Sole traders and other small businesses have had to fight every step of the way due to a lack of Government support. Four ladies, all sole traders and Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday winners took things into their own hands and approached Celebrities on Twitter to help them to give their peers a platform to get their products in front of the general public and ‘virtually’ save their businesses from closure. #CelebsForSmallBiz was born and has helped 100's of small businesses throughout the pandemic and with the cost of living rising and costs of raw materials shooting up, its as important as ever to get these people seen. Actress Annette Badland was first to jump on board and give support -"There’s no better time to help small businesses. They care about their products and their customers. The shopper has a much better, often personal, experience. It’s tough for all of us right now and it makes me feel good to engage with the maker of something I order." Author Ian Rankin was more than happy to help the cause and retweet for the group - “Small businesses suffered during Covid. Independent artists, creators and retailers need us more than ever. What’s more they offer quality and inspired design that the bland behemoths can’t manage.” Twitter is not shouted about as a selling platform, but a whole community of small businesses can tell you different. Hosted hashtags hours often get trending and get sales because of that and with Twitter having recently introduced their new Professional Accounts option in readiness for offering shopping straight from the platform, there is no better time to get your business on there and join in the fun. Author Lizzie Chantree says it all when asked why she joined - “I was incredibly honoured to be invited to be a very small part of #Celebsforsmallbiz. It’s a wonderful community of people who want to support each other and help small businesses find new customers.
