ended 01. October 2026

Dail y Mail request:

Do you know anyone who might be up for featuring as a case study for a story on these empty home EDMOs.

Just someone who has reason to fear these rule changes? Can name their company.

Second home owner, landlord or probate seller or someone living overseas for example.

Comment below if you, or someone you know, is willing to be a case study.

Responses asap please.

“The Government risks making some empty homes harder to finance in its attempt to make them easier to occupy."

“Bringing abandoned properties back into use is a sensible objective. But a six-month vacancy threshold is a blunt measure of whether an owner is failing to act. Structural repairs, planning delays and arranging finance can all consume time without indicating neglect."

“The mortgage question ministers need to answer is this: how will earlier council intervention affect the funding needed to make these properties habitable?"

“A refurbishment financed through a bridging loan depends on a credible repayment route, typically a sale or a remortgage once the work is complete. Where a property could become subject to an Empty Dwelling Management Order, lenders will need clarity about management control, rental income and how the proposed exit would work."
